As I comb the waiver, I have noticed that there isn’t much available this week. There are a lot of quality players who are currently out injured but aside from that, there isn’t much to pick from.
Despite that, here are ten players you should consider adding to your roster this week.
1. Nikola Mirotic, PF, Bulls: Mirotic has returned to the Bulls line-up with a vengeance scoring double digit points in six straight games since his return last week. Mirotic’s ability to score in the paint and with his jump shot make him a worthwhile addition this week. He is a terrific DFS play.
2. Alex Len, C, Phoenix Suns: Len is the center to own in Phoenix, not Greg Monroe or Tyson Chandler. Len only averages 9.1 points per game but he is a monster on the boards. He averages 9.5 rebounds per game. He has terrific cross category value.
3. Trey Lyles, PF, Nuggets: Lyles is averaging 18.8 points per game in his last five games and has become a consistent source of offense for the Nuggets. Lyles is a cheap play in DFS and is worth stashing in standard leagues.
4. Isaiah Canaan, PG, Suns: Canaan has been a pleasant surprise for the Suns the past two weeks. He is averaging 10.5 points per game off the bench and is capable of going off offensively. He truly is a volume scorer. If you are looking for a back up point guard, Canaan is worth considering.
5. Michael Beasley, PF, Knicks: The veteran forward has capitalized on the opportunity to play more with Kristaps Porzingis out the last three games. Beasley is can score and is averaging 10.5 points per game. Even when the Unicorn gets back, expect Beasley to have a bigger role in the Knicks rotation moving forward.
6. Mike Scott, PF, Wizards: The veteran forward has scored in double digits in five of his last six games while filling in for the injured Otto Porter. I would not roster Scott long term in a standard league but he is worthy of consideration in DFS.
7. Josh Richardson, SG/SF, Heat: Richardson has been averaging 17.3 points per game in December. If he continues to play at this level, he could be a valuable contributor down the stretch in standard leagues. Richardson is a worthwhile add in DFS.
8. Dennis Smith Jr. PG, Mavericks: Smith is back after a six game absence. Prior to being injured, Smith was averaging 14.4 points per game. He has scored in double digits in 19 straight games.
9. Andrew Bogut, C, Lakers: With Brook Lopez out for the next three to four weeks with an ankle injury, Bogut might be a worthwhile addition if you need depth or a big man in DFS.
10. George Hill, PG, Kings: The veteran point guard is healthy again and is starting to heat up offensively. Sacramento’s veterans have terrific fantasy value despite the team not being as good collectively.
