We are always looking for the next big thing in our fantasy drafts, especially in the later rounds. No matter what fantasy sport you play, you are always looking for that diamond in the rough.
Here are ten prospects that you might want to draft or pick up at some point this season, especially if you are in a multi-keeper league.
1. Shohei Ottani, P/DH, Angels: The Angels are doing the right thing sending Ottani to the minors to start the season. That will allow him to work out the kinks and come back up in May. Ottani will make an impact from a fantasy standpoint this season. That is why he is worth drafting and stashing.
2. Ronald Acuna, OF, Braves: Acuna has raw power and is a star in the making. He is going to start the season in the minors because of service time but he will be in the big leagues by May. Acuna could have a similar impact in fantasy that Cody Bellinger had last season.
3. Francisco Mejia, C, Indians: Meija is still on the big league roster and could start the season with the Indians. Meija is the top catching prospect in the game. He has proven he can handle pitchers and offensively he hits for average and power. Meija is a cross category producer and worth drafting.
4. Chance Sisco, C, Orioles: Sisco has a chance (no pun intended) to start the season as the Orioles back up catcher. At 6-2 195, Sisco is a big and he can hit. Assuming Sisco starts the season with the big club, there is a good chance he will get regular at bats and could be a difference maker in your line up offensively.
5. Gleyber Torres, 2B, Yankees: Torres is coming off of Tommy John surgery and has struggled a little in Spring Training but he will be up with the Yankees at some point this season. I probably wouldn’t draft Torres initially but keep an eye on him as the season goes on because once he’s called up, Torres could make an impact in the second half of the season.
6 . Miguel Andujar, 3B, Yankees: Andujar has had a great spring at the plate but despite that, he was still sent to the minors on Monday. The demotion could be temporary however. There is a good chance Andujar could be the Yankees starting third baseman by June if he continues to hit the way he has to start the season.
7. Fernando Tatís Jr. 2B/3B, Padres: I think Tatis will play for the Padres this season. San Diego will be better but they are still not a playoff team. They could be out of it by July and might be seller at the deadline. If that is the case, Tatis could be called up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was called up sooner.
8. Eloy Jimenez, OF, White Sox: Jimemez has raw power and with the White Sox still in the midst of a rebuild, we could see the right handed power hitter in the White Sox line up by June if they are below .500.
9. Victor Robles, OF, Nationals: Robles is a terrific athlete. He covers a lot of ground in center field and is a dynamic hitter who can for power and steal bags. He has 30/30 potential down the road. Michael Taylor mans center field for the Nationals for now but we could see Robles in the Washington line up at some point this season.
10. Vlad Guerrero Jr. 3B, Blue Jays: The chances of seeing Guerrero in a big league uniform in 2018 are slim to none barring an injury to Josh Donaldson. If Guerrero gets off to a good start in the minors and the Blue Jays are hovering around .500, you might see him in Toronto after the all star break. With Donaldson entrenched at third base this season, it will be tough for Guerrero to make an impact in 2018. He could be worth drafting or picking up and stashing in keeper leagues because he could be the Blue Jays third basemen next season if Donaldson leaves in free agency.
