I am focusing on the 1:05 pm starts for today. I’ve got $50K to spend. Here are the match ups I like for today.
P: Jose Berrios, Twins vs. Mariners ($ 10,000): Berrios wasn’t cheap but coming off of a dominant performance against the Orioles, I expect him to pick up where he left off at home against the free swinging M’s.
P: Lucas Giolito, White Sox vs. Tigers ($7,100): Giolito is a strikeout pitcher who is affordable. I love this match up against a weak hitting Tigers line up that might not have Miggy Cabrera.
C: James McCann, Tigers @White Sox ($3,300): McCann is one of the best power hitting catchers in baseball. If he gets a hold of a Giolito fastball, he could flip into a souvy.
1B: Edwin Encarnacion, Indians vs. Royals ($4,900): Power is expensive these days but despite that, I invested in the parrot keeper because I like the match up against Ian Kennedy.
2B: Chris Owings, D-Backs @ Cardinals ($3,800): I’m riding the Owings train until the Diamondbacks get healthy. He’s raking right now.
3B: Jose Ramirez, Indians vs. Royals ($4,900): I love the match up against Ian Kennedy. The switch hitter could have a big afternoon.
SS: Eduardo Nunez, Red Sox vs. Rays ($3,700): The Rays have pitched surprisingly well but it’s the Rays. They are also prone to imploding. Nunez is a smart play against Jacob Faria.
OF: Jay Bruce, Mets @ Nationals ($3,900): Left handed power at Nationals Park comes in handy. Bruce hit a grand slam on Thursday and is a cheap power source.
OF: Aaron Judge, Yankees vs. Orioles ($5,300): Judge against Chris Tillman and his 9.00 ERA. I’ll take it.
OF: Trey Mancini, Orioles @ Yankees ($3,300): Mancini is starting to heat up and I like the match up against Sonny Gray. That and he was my best option for $3300.
