Nellie has been raking of late for the Mariners.
Here’s how we spent our $50,000 on Draft Kings today. We went with a classic line up.
P: Kyle Hendricks, Cubs vs. Padres ($8,100): Hendricks has been wildly inconsistent as usual but this match up against the Dads at the friendly confines is too good to pass up.
P: Carlos Rodon, White Sox at Rays ($9,000): Rodon has been flat out dealing since his return. He has a great match up against a Rays line up that has hit lefties well but also strikes out a bunch.
C: Robinson Chirinos, Rangers vs. Orioles ($4,100): Chirinos has been a solid DFS option all season long averaging 7.3 points per game. He homered last night and is a good bet to produce tonight despite the match up against Dylan Bundy.
1B: Jose Martinez, Cardinals at Pirates ($3,900): Not exactly a “value” play but Martinez is consistent and that’s worth the extra spending money in DFS.
2B: Gleyber Torres, Yankees at Red Sox ($4,100): It’s pouring here in Boston but they will get this game in. When they do, I’m rolling with Torres against Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi is either going to be very good tonight or bad. No in between.
3B: Maikel Franco, Phillies vs. Marlins ($3,900): Franco has been terrific at the plate and in the field of late. Based on that production, he is a worthy DFS play until further notice.
SS: Jose Iglesias, Tigers at A’s ($3,700): Iglesias is one of the few Tigers that has been consistent offensively over the past two months. He averages 6.3 points per game in DFS. Not bad for a guy with no power. Iglesias is a singles, doubles hitter and he steals bags. That’s how he gets on the score sheet.
OF: Nelson Cruz, Mariners vs. Blue Jays ($4,900): The Mariners have lost four in a row but Cruz has hit three home runs in that span. He is smoking hot and worth playing right now.
OF: Steve Pearce, Red Sox vs. Yankees ($3,700): The only hitter who is hotter than Nelson Cruz right now is Pearce has four homeruns in his last two games. Play Pearce in DFS until Joey Cora takes him out of the line up.
OF: Ian Happ, Cubs vs. Padres ($3,900): Happ is inconsistent but a match up with the Padres is just what the doctor ordered to get him on track offensively. Worthy play against Padres starter Walker Lockett.
