View From The Seats: 10 Thoughts On the World of Fantasy Sports

Is Roberto Osuna disrupting the chemistry in Houston? Some think he is.

Just writing down some thoughts I have on the world of fantasy sports.

1. The Houston Astros are 7-9 since acquiring Roberto Osuna. Hmmm. Did he disrupt the team chemistry? Maybe but I think injuries have something to do with it too.

2. Tom Brady completed 17 of 26 passes for 172 yards and two touchdown passes on Thursday night. He’s 41. Unbelievable.

3. Josh Rosen was impressive in the Cardinals pre-season win over the Saints. He went 10 of 16 for 106 and a touchdown. Rosen engineered two scoring drives in the game. New coach Steve Wilks might have a decision to make in two weeks.

4. The Tampa Bay Rays got quite a haul back for Chris Archer. Austin Meadows will be their every day right fielder next season. Tyler Glasnow has front of the rotation stuff and could form a nasty one, two punch at the top of the rotation with Blake Snell. Shane Baz, the other starting pitcher they got in the deal could be in the Rays rotation by 2020. It was a terrific haul for a guy in Archer who looks more like a number three or four starter right now.

5. I bet the Yankees didn’t think Aaron Judge would be out this long. Now they are looking at him not coming back until early September. Judge’s absence has been a big blow to their line up.

6. Speaking of big blows, the Mariners losing James Paxton may have just ended their playoff hopes. The big lefty is on the 10 Day D.L with a forearm contusion . Paxton will be back but the Mariners could have used him this weekend against the Dodgers.

7. The Indians got a scare when Trevor Bauer took a line drive off his right leg. Bauer suffered a stress fracture that will keep him out 4 to 6 weeks but he will be back for the playoffs.

8. Baker Mayfield was once again impressive in Friday night’s pre-season loss to the Bills. Mayfield completed 7 of 13 passes for 75 yards. Not overwhelming numbers but he once proved he has the tools to play in the NFL.

By the way, Nick Chubb had 11 carries for 53 yards and scored a touchdown. He should be on your radar as a back up running back. There’s some short yardage, goal line value there.

9. The Dodgers can’t get Kenley Jansen back fast enough. He threw off the mound on Friday and is scheduled to visit a cardiologist tomorrow. If all goes well, Jansen could be back by the end of the week. If he’s available in your league, which is highly unlikely, grab him.

10. Call me crazy but I would consider drafting Broncos rookie quarterback Chad Kelly with a late round pick. The nephew of Bills legend Jim Kelly has been very impressive for the Broncos thus far and has the look of a future starter.
