Fantasy Football: Start Em, Sit Em Week 3

The Lions defense has a great match up against the Patriots thanks to Matt Patricia’s institutional knowledge of the Patriots offense.

It is week three of the NFL season. Here are five players you should start and five players you should sit.

Start Em

1.Paul Richardson, WR, Redskins: Richardson has a great match up against a Packers front seven that doesn’t rush the passer and a secondary that is young and inexperienced. Start Richardson with confidence.

2. Kenny Stills, WR, Dolphins: Stills is off to a great start and has become the primary option in the Dolphins passing game. He has become Ryan Tannehill’s go to guy. Stills has a terrific match up against a shaky Raiders secondary so start him with confidence.

3. Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions: Stafford is a back up quarterback in twelve leagues. Heck, he is even a back up quarterback in some ten team leagues. He is worth starting this week against an average Patriots defense that will be without safety Patrick Chung, corner back Eric Rowe and defensive end Trey Flowers.

4. Lions Defense: The Patriots offense struggled last week despite putting up 20 points against the Jaguars defense. Lions head coach Matt Patricia has institutional knowledge of the Patriots offense and that should come in handy against Tom Brady and company.

5. Matt Brieda, RB, 49ers: Brieda established himself as the guy in San Francisco and with a good match up against a Chiefs defense that is bottom third in the league, he should once again put up big numbers this week.

Sit Em

1. Saints Defense: Look elsewhere if you own the Saints defense. The Falcons are going to light them up at home. Atlanta, New Orleans is always a high scoring affair.

2. 49ers Defense: If you are in a twelve team league and start the 49ers, this you might want to scour the waiver wire for a better option. The Niners will give up plenty of yards and points to the league’s number one offense.

3. Phillip Rivers, QB, Chargers: Rivers is a fringe starting quarterback who faces a tough match up against the Rams talented front seven. If you have a better bench option, go with it.

4. Carson Wentz, QB, Eagles: This might be the only week Wentz makes this list this season but I would temper my expectations this week despite a great match up against the Colts defense. I would start Wentz with confidence moving forward.

5. Eli Manning, QB, Giants: Manning is a back up in most ten team formats but owners in twelve team formats are still starting him. If this applies to you,  this would be a good week to sit him. Manning is struggling and he has a tough match up in Houston against the Texans.
