Darcy Kuemper could be the goalie that wins you your league down the stretch.
It is the final week of the regular season so it’s time to tweak those rosters so you can make a playoff push.
Here are waiver wire options to consider this week.
C: Jordan Staal, Hurricanes: The Hurricanes are hanging onto a playoff spot and a big reason for that has been the recent play of Staal who has scored points in three of his last six games. Staal could be a worthwhile addition down the stretch.
RW: Ryan Donato, Wild: Donato is playing more top line minutes now which means he is getting more scoring opportunities playing with better players. Donato has scored nine points over his last eight games. In that span he has two goals and seven assists while averaging 15:41 minutes of ice time.
LW: Jimmy Vesey, Rangers: With Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello gone, Vesey is getting more ice time, averaging 20:34 per game since the two were traded. While it hasn’t reflected on the score sheet, more ice time equals more opportunities for Vesey in the Rangers wide open offensive system.
D: Alex Edler, Canucks: It is hard to find productive defenseman on the waiver wire this late in the season. Edler was on the shelf for a while with an injury but he is back and has been productive since his return. Edler has scored two goals in his last three games. If you need defensive depth for the stretch run, go with Edler.
D: Cam Fowler, Ducks: After missing most of the season due to injury, Fowler has returned and picked up points in four of his last five games. He is currently owned in 42% of ESPN leagues so there is a good chance he’s available in yours.
G: Darcy Kuemper, Coyotes: It is hard to find quality goaltending this time of year. Darcy Kuemper could be a steal for you. He has won 9 of his last 10 starts and is 11-2-0 with a 1.83 GAA in the past month. Kuemper now has 22 wins on the season. He is only owned in 23% of ESPN leagues. If you can pick up him and add him to your goaltending depth, you should.
