The future is bright in baseball when it comes to young talent. There is a lot of it in the game right now. There are four Latin American prospects in particular that have the baseball world abuzz with their potential. Yankees second basemen Gleyber Torres, Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., Nationals outfielder Juan Soto and Blue Jays third basemen Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Torres and Acuna were called up within the past month. Soto was called up this past weekend and Guerrero is expected to be called up by mid-June.
If you missed the boat on Torres and Acuna, you can make up for that gaff by picking up either Soto or Guerrero or both. Right now Soto is owned in 66% of yahoo standard leagues and 63% of ESPN standard leagues. That means he is still out there in some standard leagues but if you are going to pick him up, you better do it now.
Guerrero is owned in 42% of yahoo leagues and 32% of ESPN leagues. He is still available but I expect his ownership to skyrocket in the next two weeks. The Blue Jays are waiting until mid June to call up Guerrero because they don’t want him to be able to go to arbitration before he has three years of big league service time. Despite having to wait on him, you might want to add Guerrero if you have a roster because he is major league ready and will get called up at some point in the next three weeks.
Both Soto and Guerrero are going to make impact this season for their respective clubs. If you’ve missed the boat on them thus far, now is the time to jump in and swoop them up.
