Max Muncy has been a great story for the Dodgers thus far this season.
1. Max Muncy, 1B/3B/OF, Dodgers: Muncy offers great versatility because he can play three positions and he hits for power. He is currently owned in 68% of yahoo standard leagues and 69% of ESPN standard leagues.
2. Dylan Covey, SP, White Sox: Covey got hit pretty good last night by the Indians but prior to that, he was terrific in four out of his last five starts raking up 30 strikeouts in those starts. Covey is worth adding as a sixth or seventh starter. If nothing else he is a quality streaming option.
3. Joc Pederson, OF, Dodgers: Pederson has bounced back at the plate after a tough 2017 season. he still strikes out a lot and doesn’t play everyday but he hits home runs and is a consistent point producer. Pederson is a valuable bench piece. He is currently owned in 37% of standard yahoo leagues and 46% of ESPN standard leagues.
4. Jhoulys Chacin, SP, Brewers: The crafty veteran pitched well against Pittsburgh on Monday night but got no support in a 1-0 loss. Chacin is one of those starters that does just enough to hit double digit points in most of his starts. If nothing else, Chacin is worth stashing. He currently has a 6-2 record and 3.18 ERA on the season.
5. Michael Soroka, SP, Braves: The young starter is a prominent member of the Braves rotation but he may be on innings limit so you can’t count on Soroka long term. Until then, he is worth picking up as an extra starter because of his ability to go deep in games and to pick up a moderate number of strikeouts.
6. Leonys Martin, OF, Tigers: Martin has flown under the radar because the Tigers have been hovering around .500. Martin has turned his career around this season offensively and has been one of the most productive center fielders in the game. He is the Tigers lead off hitter and he is flourishing in that role. Martin is currently owned in 26% of standard yahoo leagues and 36% of standard ESPN leagues.
7. Jaime Barria, SP, Angels: Barria is 5-3 with an ERA of 3.57. He has been a life saver for an Angels team ravaged by injuries. Barria is strictly a streaming option right now but if you have pitchers like Masahiro Tanaka, Walker Buehler or Yu Darvish, Barria might be worth adding.
8. Steven Wright, SP, Red Sox: The veteran knuckleballer will give you innings and pick up a handful of strikeouts every start. Wright is currently sporting a 1.23 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 29 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. He is currently owned in 55% of yahoo standard leagues and 49% of ESPN standard leagues.
9.Anibel Sanchez, SP, Braves: Sanchez has re-discovered the stuff that earned him a five year, $80 million dollar contract with the Detroit Tigers in 2012. Sanchez currently has a 1.93 ERA and 32 strikeouts. He has been a terrific bridge starter for the Braves and is worth either stashing or streaming.
10. John Hicks, 1B/C, Tigers: With Miggy Cabrera done for the season with a triceps injury, Hicks becomes an appealing waiver wire pick up. Hicks will be the everyday first baseman and as long as he doesn’t lose his catcher eligibility, he is worth rostering.
