The NBA Draft is officially in the books. Now I am sure you are wondering, which of these incoming rookies should I draft? Well, we’ll make it easy for you.
Here are the ten rookies you should consider adding in your draft.
1 DeAndre Ayton, PF/C, Phoenix Suns: Ayton is a guaranteed double, double. He averaged 20 and 10 at Arizona. He might not put up these numbers in the NBA but Ayton is good enough to average 15 and 8. Some will reach for Ayton. I wouldn’t but I would consider him in the middle to later rounds in my draft. Especially in a twelve team league.
2. Marvin Bagley III, PF, Sacramento Kings: The Kings don’t have a big that can score in the low block or hit a face up jumper. Bagley can do both and he should have a big role in the Kings offense. Bagley is worth drafting in the later rounds (15 to 20).
3. Trae Young, PG, Atlanta Hawks: Young is going to play a lot in Atlanta, especially if the Hawks end up trading Dennis Schroeder. Young can provide instant offense in your line up. He is worth drafting despite his limited cross category potential.
4. Luca Doncic, G, Dallas Mavericks: Doncic will play point guard, shooting guard and small forward for the Mavericks. He will play a lot of minutes and form a dynamic backcourt with Dennis Smith Jr. The question is, does Doncic score enough to make him draft worthy? Time will tell.
5. Collin Sexton, PG, Cleveland Cavaliers: Sexton’s role and fantasy value will be predicated on what happens with Lebron. If James stays, Sexton will have a lesser role. If James leaves in free agency, Sexton will have a greater role and have more value from a fantasy standpoint.
6. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, PG, Los Angeles Clippers: SGA is a big point guard who can score and distribute the basketball. His role on the Clippers will depend on what they do in free agency. If they decide to rebuild, SGA will have a bigger role and he’ll be worth drafting late.
7. Mikal Bridges, SF, Phoenix Suns: Bridges should play plenty in Phoenix. He can shoot the basketball and has high volume scoring potential. He is not worth drafting but he could be a worthy add as the season goes on.
8. Michael Porter Jr. PF, Denver Nuggets: It’s all about Porter’s health. If his back holds up and he stays healthy, he could be a major contributor in fantasy and reality.
9. Donte DiVincenzo, SG, Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks needed to add a shooting guard who can score and they did that with DiVincenzo. He will play a lot of minutes and could be worth adding in the second half of the season.
10. Lonnie Walker IV, SG, San Antonio Spurs: If the Spurs end up trading Kawhi Leonard, then Walker will get more minutes and play a bigger role on the Spurs. If Leonard stays, then Walker’s role will be limited and that will impact his fantasy value.
