Fantasy Hockey: Ten Veterans Who Still Have Value

Don’t discount veteran in fantasy hockey. Proven goal scorers have value and could be of use to you over the course of a 20 week season. Here are ten veterans to target in your league.

1. Eric Staal, F, Minnesota Wild: Staal scores 42 goals last season and proved that he can still provide in fantasy and reality.

2. Patrick Marleau, F, Toronto Maple Leafs: Marleau will play on the Leafs second and has the potential to score 30 goals this season playing alongside Mitch Marner.

3. Jeff Carter, F, Los Angeles Kings: Carter missed most of last season due to injury but he is going to be counted on to bounce back and score 30 plus goals for a Kings team looking to return to cup contention.

4. Justin Williams, F, Carolina Hurricanes: The Hurricanes captain is ageless. Williams has the potential to be a 20/40 player and finish with a high plus, minus.

5. Derek Stepan, F, Arizona Coyotes: Stepan is a bounce back candidate in Arizona now that he will be playing on a line with Alex Galchunyk.

6. Max Pacioretty, F, Vegas Golden Knights: Patches needed a change of scenery and Vegas is the perfect fit. The Knights wanted a big winger with size that could replace James Neal production. They are going to get that with Pacioretty.

7. Keith Yandle, D, Florida Panthers: Yandle will quarterback the Panthers second power play unit and is still effective scoring from the point. If you are looking for a veteran D man for bench purposes, Yandle is a good fill in piece.

8. Brandon Saad, F, Chicago Blackhawks: Saad will take on a greater role with the Blackhawks this season which means his numbers should go up. 25 goals is not out of the realm of possibility.

9. Roberto Luongo, G, Florida Panthers: Luongo still has some gas in the tank. The veteran netninder could still score some points in fantasy hockey as a back up goalie.

10: James Van Riemsdyk, F, Philadelphia Flyers: The veteran power forward returned to Philly this off-season and a 30 goal season is not out of the realm of possibility. Especially with JVR on the top line and the top power play.
