Fantasy Football: NFL DFS Week 9

By: Jared Leonard | @JaredLeonard77

Alright, it’s week 9. Last week was a little hit and miss for some of our DFS plays. Doug Baldwin and TY Hilton were duds at wide receiver last week, and unless you paid up for Kelce at tight end, our other suggestions really struggled to put up fantasy points. As we have reached the mid-season point, I have done some reevaluating of roster construction going forward. I know I have always preached paying down at tight end, but it has been too volatile this year and we recognize that. So paying up at tight end for the rest of the season is something we are going to do. It has been much easier this year to find value at wide receiver, running back, and defense. This will be the strategy we are going to employ moving forward. Now let’s look at our plays for week 9. Remember to check on last minute news and last minute changes to our player suggestions.

Quarterbacks:

Quarterback has some great options this week with some high game totals projected. Cam Newton has a ++ matchup against a terrible Buccaneers defense and is my top play of the week. I also love Goff and Brees playing against each other in a game where vegas is projecting a shootout. My favorite cheap play of the week is Flacco. To beat Pittsburgh, you have to throw the football. Pittsburgh’s defense is one of the top rated against the run and that’s why I think Flacco will have a nice day for fantasy.

Pat Mahomes

Cam Newton

Drew Brees

Jared Goff

Joe Flacco

Running Backs:

Running back is loaded at the top with great matchups. Gurley is always in play and is under priced on DK, but you may want to fade him on Fanduel with his inflated price. My favorite play of the week is Kareem Hunt against a Cleveland defense that gets torched by running backs. Just look at James Conner’s numbers last week. My favorite cheap play is Nick Chubb going up against a Chiefs defense that is giving up 5+ yards per carry this season. McGuire is my deep sleeper this week and only a suggestion for tournaments.

Todd Gurley

Christian McCaffrey

Kareem Hunt

Alvin Kamara

Adrian Peterson

Latavius Murray

Mark Ingram

Nick Chubb

Elijah McGuire

Wide Receivers:

There’s a lot of great options at wide receiver at a variety of price points. My favorite play of the week is Michael Thomas in a game that has a huge point total and should see plenty of targets. I also love Cooper Kupp this week in the same game, but all Rams’ wide receivers are in play this week. My favorite cheap play of the week is Courtland Sutton. Now with Demaryius Thomas in Houston, Sutton will get full time snaps and should make an immediate impact.

* I’m getting off all Receivers in Dolphins vs Jets game due to weather and field conditions.

Mike Evans

Julio Jones

Michael Thomas

Robert Woods

Brandin Cooks

Emmanuel Sanders

Cooper Kupp

John Brown

Devin Funchess

Demaryius Thomas

Courtland Sutton

Anthony Miller

Laquon Treadwell

Tight Ends:

If you can fit Kelce in your lineup, do so. Otherwise, I like Greg Olsen and OJ Howard as some cheaper options at the position.

Travis Kelce

Jordan Reed

Greg Olsen

David Njoku

OJ Howard

Vance McDonald

Defense:

Bears are the top option on defense this week going against a terrible Bills’ offense and turnover machine Nate Peterman. My favorite play is Denver at home against Houston who gives up a ton of sacks.

Bears

Panthers

Vikings

Dolphins

Broncos
