Fantasy Basketball: Combing the Wire for Week 3

We are combing the wire for the top ten pick ups for week three of the fantasy basketball season. Here goes!

1. Spencer Dinwiddie, PG, Brooklyn Nets: Dinwiddie has been a revelation since Jeremy Lin got hurt. He is averaging 11.5 points per game and playing close to 30 minutes a night. Given D’Angelo Russell’s injury history, Dinwiddie is a worthwhile grab. He is available in over 70% of fantasy leagues out there.

2. Larry Nance Jr. PF, Los Angeles Lakers: Nance has been terrific for the Lakers thus far. He is averaging 11.1 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. Nance is a solid cross category option if you are looking for a utility player or bench piece.

3. Jonathan Simmons, SG, Orlando Magic: The former Spur has scored  double digit fantasy points in seven of the Magic’s eight games this season. Simmons is a volume scorer who can score in bunches. Given his production thus far, he has the potential to be a quality utility option or provide bench depth for you.

4. Rodney Hood, SG, Utah Jazz: Hood did not score in last night’s game against the Blazers but going into last night, he had scored double digits in three straight games. Hood runs hot and cold as evident by his performance on Wednesday night but he can score in bunches and could be a solid bench or DFS play.

5. Kelly Oubre Jr. SF, Washington Wizards: Oubre can hit the three ball so he can fill up the score sheet in terms of points. He is also strong on the glass which makes him an attractive point producer on a nightly basis.

6. John Collins, PF/C, Atlanta Hawks: Collins Made my list last week and he is still available in roughly 70% of fantasy leagues across all formats. How is that possible? He is averaging 11 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. Those are pretty good numbers considering he only plays about 19 minutes a game.

7. Jakob Poethl, PF/C, Toronto Raptors: Poethl has been playing more minutes thanks to the injury to Jonas Valanciunas. He can play around the rim offensively and he has a consistent jump shot. Poethl’s minutes will decrease when Valanciunas gets back. Until then, grab and play him. Especially in DFS.

8. Alex Len, C, Phoenix Suns: Productive bigs are hard to find. Len doesn’t score much but he rebounds the basketball well. If you are in a twelve team league and looking for depth at the center position, pick up Len.

9. T.J McConnell, PG, Philadelphia 76ers: McConnell is getting more minutes thanks to the injury to Markelle Fultz and he is making them count. He can be a bit streaky as a shooter, but when McConnell is on, he provides good value across the board. I would grab him on a slow DFS day. He can give you a double digit night.

10. Tyreke Evans, SG/SF, Memphis Grizzlies: Evans has had a rebirth of sorts in Memphis. He is playing twenty five minutes a night and is averaging 15.6 points per game. Evans is a volume scorer. The points will be there but the rebounds and assists might not. Either way, he is a solid fantasy pick up.
