Fantasy Basketball: Five Replacements for Kristaps Porzingas in Your Line-Up

The New York Knicks got some terrible news on Tuesday night when it was revealed that forward Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn ACL against the Bucks. Porzingas was declared out for the season after an MRI confirmed the initial diagnosis. It has been a tough season for NBA superstars. Demarcus Cousins ruptured his Achilles tendon two weeks ago.

So, how do you replace the White Unicorn in your line up? here are five players to target in free agency.

Michael Beasley, SF/PF, New York Knicks: Beasley is at the top of this list because he is going to get Porzingis’ minutes in New York. While Beasley can fill up the stat sheet as a scorer, he doesn’t offer much as a rebounder and distributor of the basketball. I would say grab Beasley if you are looking for an immediate fill in for Porzingis otherwise, I would do my homework and see what else is on the wire.

Nikola Mirotic, F, New Orleans Pelicans: Mirotic has gotten off to a slow with the Pelicans but once he gets acclimated to playing in New Orleans he should be productive starting at the four spot next to Anthony Davis. Mirotic is averaging 17.4 points per game in standard ESPN formats so statistically, he is not far off from the 21 points per game Porzingis was averaging.

Danilo Galinari, SF/PF, Los Angeles Clippers: Galinari is back after missing the past two months with a shoulder injury. Galinari has been on fire in the three games since his return averaging 22.3 points per game. Galinari is versatile in that he can play three different positions depending on the line up that is on floor. That versatility plus his ability to shoot the three make him an ideal replacement for Porzingis.

Caris LeVert, SG/SF/PF, Brooklyn Nets: LeVert’s minutes have taken a hit since the return of D’Angelo Russell but LeVert still plays three positions and offers cross category appeal. If you are looking for a potential replacement for Porzingis in deeper leagues, LeVert is worth keeping an eye on.

Josh Jackson, SF, Phoenix Suns: Jackson has been inserted into the starting line up in Phoenix. He is getting more minutes and making the most of his opportunity. While he doesn’t score like he did in college, Jackson has cross category appeal and could improve upon his current numbers as the season goes on.
